Career
planning and counselling
We see two main groups of
clients.
Firstly, those who are
undertaking or have recently completed tertiary education and are
unsure about how to connect their studies to a career opportunity.
Through counselling and
assessment we are able to assist these clients to plan a strategy that
is aimed at creating job satisfaction into the future.
Practical assistance and
support is also provided with resume writing and networking
opportunities.
As we have strong industry
connections with other work that we do, we have a current
understanding of the job market that young adults encounter
The second group that we
assist is the older adult who is making a voluntary or involuntary
career change.
Through a process of
reviewing life history, age, current needs and future aspirations,
combined with counselling and assessment, we can provide a fresh
perspective on the future.

Upset or worried
At times in our life, things can go badly wrong.
It may be a death of a family member or friend, loss of a job, breakdown in a relationship, an accident or injury.
Life
events can leave us with deep feelings of sadness, loss of enthusiasm
and feelings of being trapped and thinking that things are never going
to get better.
Things rarely get better or improve unless we work on positive change.
But where do you start?
Seek support from a person who is trained to understand human functioning and emotions.
It is a much better alternative to masking personal pain through
overuse of drugs or alcohol or just ignoring it and thinking it will
all get better.
There is no embarrassment in doing something positive in order to feel better.
People often feel guilty in asking for professional help.
Sometimes we can be stubborn in our belief systems
and miss an opportunity to improve our quality of life.

Job loss counselling
Job loss counselling
helps to deal with the changes in your role identity. When job cuts are
coming you may be already struggling with a lot of personal problems.
Cheetham Consulting Group will help you to adjust your personal life to overcome changes.
Talking with our specialists will help individuals to prepare for the
loss and keep problems that may already be giving them trouble under
control.
The support from us will enable you to deal with depressed and anxious feelings
and enable you to move ahead with your career and life.
Injury or Trauma counselling
The adaptation to a physical injury or major psychological scock can
cause a number of undesirable changes in people’s lives:
- reduced energy
- physical pain and decreased strength
- increased medication
- decreased physical activity
- financial difficulties
- withdrawal from friends
- worries, anger, teariness and hopelessness
- frustration at work—impaired abilities and competence
- increased irritability with partner and children
Professional support is certainly needed to help restabilise life after injury or trauma.
Grief counselling
Guilt and loss are not the only emotions people experience during grief.
Very often they suffer from feelings of anger and relief.
These reactions can create more damage because people are ashamed of such feelings and cannot admit to them.
Difficulties in working through grief can cause psychological problems.
Often grieving persons need help from other people.
Loneliness only increases the helplessness associated with profound grief.
If such feelings continue over time
and you experience difficulty re-establishing your life you should look for professional support.
Marriage counselling
Many individuals refuse to seek counseling because
they do not want to admit that their marriage has failed.
Seeking counselling to resolve difficult issues and to confront problems
helps people to find a neutral space where they
can work on their relationship.
Not all relationships heal but from our experience, counselling is a very useful step in helping
a couple move ahead with their lives.
Anger, bitterness and resentment, if held on to, can create costly finance and emotional consequencies for
both parties. Seeking counselling can be a financially and emotionally cost-effective tool.
Our marriage counsellors may meet with the partners separately
before meeting with them together.
